SPRIG is based on an antique Balkan cross stitched hand towel in her private collection. The challenge that Susan set herself when creating SPRIG was to translate the colour and finesse of this very fine and deceptively simple textile into a weave suitable for upholstery. It took months of refining the configuration of the flowers and the texture and the colours both of the flowers and the natural linen coloured base for Susan Deliss to achieve this sophisticated weave.
