KILIMS AND CARPETS
A kilim is a flat woven textile, without pile, so without the knots that are the key characteristic of traditional carpets or rugs. They originate from Turkey (Anatolia and Thrace), North Africa, the Balkans, the Caucasus, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Central Asia and China. Traditionally each type of kilim can be associated with the geographical area in which it was produced.
